Landmark ensures a clean, pest-free environment using research-based green technologies. We first employ pesticide-free methods such as insect traps, light traps, air curtains, structural exclusion, and habitat modification. Pesticides are used only as a last resort to keep pests perfectly controlled.
Landmark’s Integrated Pest Management program reduces reliance on pesticides by removing what pests need to survive; access to food, water, warmth, and harborage. Our detailed reporting helps you streamline processes and make maintenance improvements. Preferred green methods include natural products such as silica, dust formulations applied to inaccessible wall voids, and targeted bait gels applied to cracks-and-crevices.
Kitchen and Dining
The atmosphere of your restaurant, room service, and breakfast buffet serve up a delicious customer experience. A single fly, cockroach or rodent dropping is unacceptable. That’s why Landmark’s Integrated Pest Management program for food service goes beyond kitchen control to include treatment of loading docks and garbage compactor areas to prevent pest entry and control flies where they rest.
Don’t Let the Bed Bugs Bite
The number of people with bed bug infestations at home is increasing and when those guests check in, their bed bugs check in too. That’s why we offer the most comprehensive response to bed bugs in our industry. Our discrete rapid response will have a technician to you in as little as one hour. We respond 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Our treatment protocol is informed by the latest scientific studies and is proven effective through private field research. Our success rate is second to none. Rest assured, we stand behind our service with a 30-day Bed Bug-Free Guarantee.
Every hotel program includes training for your administrators regarding best practices for containment and response when bed bugs infiltrate. We provide training materials and conduct education sessions so that your staff will have lean, systematic processes in place when pest issues arise.
DNA Testing for Bed Bugs in Hotels in Illinois
Landmark utilizes a technique called PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) for the study of bed bug DNA. We swab your surface and then submit the sample to the lab. If the test indicates a “positive” result, that means conclusively that bed bugs either are or have been present in the past year. Other insects such as cockroaches, ants, and fleas have a different DNA signature and cannot be mistaken for bed bug DNA in this test. A “false-positive” result is not possible with this process and all positive results indicate the presence of bed bug DNA. We can have your results to you in 72 hours.

Prior to the invention of PCR, significant amounts of a sample were necessary for molecular and genetic analyses, and studies of isolated pieces of DNA were nearly impossible without PCR amplification. Our laboratory can amplify or copy the sample until there is a readable volume. The sample is first heated so the DNA denatures, or separates and an enzyme called “Taq polymerase” enables each of these strands to create two new copies, and so on, and so on. This process is conducted by a machine called a thermocycler and is completed in only a few hours.
Nuts About Pest Management
We admit it. We’re more than a little crazy about safety. It’s the reason why protecting public health by engineering the ecology of your building is our mission. Did you know that nut products are used in many pest control formulations? Because of the growing prevalence of nut allergies and sensitivities, all Landmark treatments are peanut and tree nut-free.
