Helping Homeowners Remove Mice Quickly, Repair Mouse Damage, and Seal Mice Out Since 1976
A home or building can be significantly damaged by mice. Their urine causes a permanent musty smell which can be unpleasant and embarrassing. Mice spread diseases that are harmful to people including E. coli, Salmonella, and Leptospirosis. Mice ruin a home’s energy efficiency by nesting in, and tunneling through, insulation in walls and attics. Of greatest concern, mice will chew on wiring which can result in a fire.
Landmark uses the science of the way mice live, breed and feed to quickly eliminate mouse problems. Then, we identify how the mice are entering and seal them out to prevent future mouse infestations.
- Exterminate mice in homes, offices, restaurants, food plants, and grocery stores
- Repair damage caused by mice
- Remove mouse contamination to eliminate health hazards
- Replace contaminated insulation with new clean insulation
- Identify entry points and install mouse-proof barriers to seal mice out
- Deliver peace of mind.
Mice have their place in nature, not in your house.

Seal Mice Out
Treatments for mice such as mouse traps and mouse poison (rodenticide) will not solve a mouse problem. Unless the ¼ inch holes through which the mice are entering are identified and sealed, mice will continue to infest year after year. Landmark is more than just a pest control company, we’re a pest exclusion company. Our experts know how mice get in and know how to seal mice out so you can enjoy a mouse-free home or building.
- Identify and seal the dime-sized holes mice use to gain access
- Use green methods approved for use in homes with children and pets
- Install mouse-proof materials through which mice can’t chew
- Replace soiled insulation with clean new attic insulation
- Mice have their place outdoors, not in your house.
How Do I Know if I Have a Mouse Problem?
Mice are secretive, skilled at hiding and avoiding humans, and are most active at night. So, oftentimes you may be unaware that you have a mouse issue until it’s too late. Signs of a mouse infestation include:
- Mouse droppings that are black and about the size and shape of a grain of rice
- Musty smells caused by mouse urine
- Paper, cloth, or other nesting materials that have been chewed through or shredded
- Bits or shreds of insulation used as nesting material
- Nighttime noises in the attic and wall voids
Landmark’s Complete Home Care includes a mouse monitoring system that works year round to control mice and identify mouse issues before they get out of hand. Plus, it controls over 40 different insect pests including ants, bees, wasps, hornets, spiders, and roaches. It’s the best value, and a proactive way to ensure that your home will be protected from mice.
Why Do I Have a Mouse in My House?
Mice are a commensal pest species, which means they live alongside humans, contaminating food, spreading disease, and making us sick. Our homes are appealing places for mice to live, take shelter from the cold, hide from predators, and raise their young.
A mouse will easily fit through any hole that is ¼ inch or greater. That’s only the diameter of a Bic pen! Once they get inside, they breed quickly, urinate throughout the home, contaminate food with their feces and urine, and gnaw through wires and wood. Unless a comprehensive plan is used to eliminate the mice inside and seal them out, then a mouse problem will continue for years.
Our experts install control to ensure that we have complete coverage across the area where mice will travel. Then our structural experts identify every hole that is ¼ inch or greater so that we can seal mice out permanently.
They’re looking for shelter. They’re looking for warmth and food. They’re looking at your home, no matter where you live. Call Landmark to seal mice out and take back your home.

How to Permanently Solve a Mouse Problem
Every small unprotected opening is an invitation to mice. Finding and sealing these openings is key to solving mouse problems and reducing reliance on rodenticides. Sealing gaps to build mice out is the best long-term solution to a mouse infestation.
Mice enter through gaps under doors, climb across power lines and enter where gaps around pipe chases permit them to crawl inside. Gaps as small as ¼ inch provide access for mice to enter your building.
Doors lacking door sweeps are the most common entry point. Gaps beneath doors need to be protected with door sweeps that are designed to keep mice out. Bristle-style door sweeps don’t keep mice out, because they are easily gnawed through by mice and other rodents. Landmark installs rodent-proof door sweeps that rodents cannot chew through.
Mice are excellent climbers and they often enter buildings at the roof level. When mice are discovered, a thorough inspection should include checking attic spaces, areas where power lines enter, and around ducts and vents.
Fires Caused by Rodents
According to the Illinois Department of Public health, it is estimated that rodents likely start 25 percent of all fires attributed to unknown causes.
Since rodents prefer to build their nests near warm places, they can carry combustible nesting materials to areas on top of steam pipes, pilot lights, and near vents, causing these materials to combust.
Landmark installs mouse monitors to treat for the mice you have and to alert our team of future mouse activity. When mouse activity is observed, we respond by identifying how the mice are getting in and by sealing mice out to help protect buildings from the fire hazard caused by mice.
