Swarmers or Discarded Wings

Mud Tubes or Shelter Tubes

Hollow-Sounding Wood

- Waist: Termites have a broad, straight waist. Ants have a pinched, narrow waist between the body segments.
- Wings: A termite’s four wings are all the same size and shape. An ant’s front wings are noticeably larger than its back wings.
- Antennae: Termite antennae are straight. Ant antennae are bent, with a distinct elbow.
